The newest approach to the treatment of cellulite and localized fat has been developed by the Swiss Company Stortz Medical, which is the first company worldwide to successfully change the physical properties of shock waves in order to enable their effective use as pulsating acoustic waves in anti-cellulite therapy and body shaping.
Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) introduces high-energy acoustic waves into the body in the form of high-frequency oscillations.
Originally, acoustic waves were used for the fragmentation of kidney stones (ESWL) exclusively because of their mechanical effects. Since 1992 they have been applied for the treatment of orthopaedic conditions such as tendon and muscle disorders (ESWT).
Recent studies have revealed that acoustic waves produce biological effects that may stimulate metabolic processes and improve connective tissue elasticity in the skin and subcutaneous tissue as well. New, specifically designed acoustic wave devices and treatment protocols targeting problematic areas with sagging skin, cellulite and local fat deposits and produce shrinking of fat tissue, smoothing and tightening of the skin.
AWT is primarily used for the following applications:
- Anti-cellulite therapy (stage I – III)
- Muscle and connective tissue tightening
- Elimination of lymphatic congestion
- Circumference reduction/»slimming«
AWT treatment areas:
- Upper arms
- Gluteal region
Treatment is performed in 8-12 sessions, usually two per week. Each session lasts about 15-30 minutes.
Treatment is painless and feels like an energetic massage. It is absolutely safe. It can be performed in women and men alike, regardless of skin type. No restrictions regarding sun-exposure apply, so treatments may be carried out even in summertime.
Treatment goes into effect gradually. Some benefits may be felt even after the first sessions, since the skin is softer and smoother. Tightening and anti-cellulite effect appear later in the treatment protocol.
The long-lasting effect of this new Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT®) has been confirmed by numerous scientific research projects and long-term observational studies.
As with any other “slimming”/body-contouring treatment, a healthy diet and systematic physical exercise are prerequisites in order to achieve the best results.
