Dr Athina Matekovits has been invited to participate as a keynote speaker in the event entitled “Spring Issues” organized by Bayer Hellas pharmaceutical company. The event took place on Wednesday May 10th at Athens Metropolitan Hotel and was attended by pharmacists from Athens and southeast Attica region.
Dr Matekovits covered the topic of skin allergies, explaining the mechanism, the diagnostic approach and the therapeutic guidelines for urticaria, allergic contact dermatitis and atopic dermatitis. In a subsequent speech she presented the effect of the Sun’s ultraviolet radiation on human skin and the resulting photo-damage, leading to photodermatoses, sun-induced ageing and the formation of skin cancers. Sun protection strategies were analyzed, with special emphasis on the right choice and use of sunscreens.
The event had an impressive attendance and the participants displayed lively interest in the topics presented.
